I learned the most about oil painting by reading wonderful art books, taking lessons and workshops, and watching, listening and trying techniques of many expert teachers and studying their videos. Practicing their styles and watching how to mix color and also exploring different brushes and tools was helpful and fun to try.
I vary subject matter (portraits, landscapes and still life ) because I think it keeps my paintings 'fresh'.
My goals are to express the personalities of people in portraiture, to show motion and light in landscapes, and to create " lively " still life paintings. I will continue experimenting, including plein air and using looser brush strokes. I will continue to be inspired by mixing beautiful, harmonious colors and seeking many interesting subjects to paint.
